Two speeds, not one
A typing test times a sprint. Real writing stops and starts while you think. Cadence shows both.
- Burst
- How fast your fingers move
- Effective
- How fast you really write, pauses included
Short pauses count as thinking. Step away for more than two minutes and the clock stops.
See where you type fastest
The dashboard shows your speed in each app, for any day, week, month, or year.
| App | Words | Burst | Effective |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1,240 | 84 | 58 | |
| 860 | 91 | 63 | |
| 610 | 78 | 44 | |
| 320 | 88 | 61 |
Private by design
Cadence counts your keys. It never keeps your words.
Only counts and times. Nobody can read back what you typed.
No account, and Cadence sends nothing anywhere. Your data is one file on your Mac.
Cadence counts nothing on the lock screen or in password fields.
Pause counting, or skip an app, from the menu bar. Try it at the top of this page.
